CUSTOM DRAPERY PROJECT

LODEN HOTEL PROJECT

Boutique Hotel Drapery Refresh Across Penthouse Suites and Guest Rooms

Design Challenge

The Loden Hotel is a high-end boutique hotel in downtown Vancouver. It recently underwent a full renovation of its penthouse suites, including a custom drapery refresh.
The developer leading the renovation needed to replace all existing drapery across the entire penthouse floor. The goal was to transform the feel of the space completely.

Beyond aesthetics, the hotel also needed window treatments that would:

  • Match a modern, high-end boutique design

  • Add softness to large, open spaces

  • Provide privacy and room darkening for guests

  • Work within the operational constraints of a busy hotel

Window Treatment Solution

Fresh Design worked alongside the developer to fully redesign the drapery throughout the penthouse suites, then expanded the project across the rest of the hotel.

Penthouse Suites

The team replaced all sheers and drapery and introduced a more modern pleating style.

  • Existing pinch-pleat drapes were replaced with ripple-fold drapery, creating a cleaner, more contemporary look

  • Drapery was installed not only on windows, but across walls, doors, and used as room dividers to soften the entire space

  • In select areas, velvet drapery was used to add texture and luxury

  • Window treatments featured a linen-look fabric that offered durability while maintaining a refined appearance

In some suites, drapery was used functionally as well as aesthetically:

  • Divider drapery provided privacy between spaces, such as bathrooms

  • Entry drapery allowed guests to close off the room upon entering

The result was a layered, design-forward environment where drapery became a defining feature of the space.

Hotel-Wide Expansion

After seeing the results in the penthouse suites, the hotel engaged Fresh Design to continue the custom drapery throughout the property.

Spa Area

Older wooden blinds were removed and replaced with drapery to create a softer, more relaxing environment.

Conference Rooms

Existing roller shades were retained as a base layer, and soft drapery was added on top. We installed floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall drapery, transforming large spaces into warm, inviting environments.

Guest Rooms

A layered system was implemented, which included:

  • Room-darkening drapery for sleep

  • Sheer drapery behind for daytime privacy

This combination improved both comfort and functionality for guests.

Installation Approach

The installation required precision and speed due to hotel operations.

Fresh Design coordinated closely with hotel staff and worked within tight scheduling windows, often completing installations in as little as three hours between guest check-out and check-in.

This level of organization allowed the project to move forward efficiently without disrupting the guest experience.

Products & Features
  • Custom ripple-fold drapery

  • Linen-look drapery fabric (durable, hospitality-suitable)

  • Velvet drapery for feature walls and softening elements

  • Room-darkening drapery for guest comfort

  • Sheer drapery for daytime privacy

  • Layered drapery over existing roller shades

  • Custom installations across walls, doors, and large window spans

Result

The transformation had a significant visual and functional impact across the hotel.

  • Rooms feel cleaner, brighter, and more inviting

  • Large window walls now feel soft, warm, and cohesive

  • Drapery became a central design feature, especially in corner suites with expansive glass

  • Guests benefit from improved sleep quality and privacy

The success of the initial penthouse renovation led to a full-hotel rollout, with additional phases already planned.

The hotel team was especially pleased with:

  • The fabric selection and final look of all the rooms

  • The way the drapery hangs and functions

  • The ability to complete installation quickly within operational constraints
